Question elevating leg rests

HI folks,
I have a Q 6000 with elevating leg rests and tilt. Almost from the beginning the leg rest do a lot of jerking when raised. My service guys stated that almost any jarring or hitting the mechanism / motor that is on hte outside of each leg rest would result in that and that it cannot be fixed. Anyone had problems like this. They attitribute it all to placement of each motor and then my accidental knocking against furniture or doors
Looking for opinions
